Launch Yourself in the celebrations by hosting your own NYW 2007 event. Its fun and its easy. This section provides tips to help get your event up and running.
There are no licensing fees or registration costs to become an official NYW event organiser. All you need to do is cover the costs of running the event.
Simply register your event or activity with your State/Territory NYW representative.

All official, registered NYW 2007 activities are entitled to:
- use the official NYW 2007 logo, design, imagery and slogan
- a range of promotional materials to help promote your event or activity
- a listing of your event/activity on the national Calendar of Events
Be creative and spread the word around about your event. Let’s make NYW 2007 bigger and better than ever before!

Getting started
Step one
Get a team together to take action and coordinate your chosen NYW activity. The team could include friends, students, representatives from your youth group or community organisation and other interested community members.
Step two
Decide what activities you’d like to coordinate to celebrate NYW 2007. Be as creative as you like.
Step three
Contact your State/Territory NYW representative to register your event.

Step four
Promote your event. Publicise it by contacting local media outlets, such as radio and television stations, and newspapers to let them know what you’re organising, when its happening and how people in your community can get involved.
All official, registered NYW event organisers will receive free promotional material to help publicise their own events.
Holding a great event
When planning your NYW event:
- talk to people and community groups in your area
- make sure your event is free of alcohol and drugs
- use neutral environments to make sure all young people are comfortable
- consider scheduling your event in the evening or weekends (times suitable for all young people)
- make participation costs reasonable
- consider transport issues so young people can get to and from your event
- look into whether or not your event needs to be covered by public liability insurance

Event resources
To receive NYW promotional materials for your school, your community group or organisation, register your NYW event with your State/Territory NYW representative.

Resources for NYW 2007 will include:
- A3 posters (with white space for you to put your event details)
- DL Flyers (with white space for you to put your event details)
- Wrist sweatbands
- Temporary tattoos
