In this issue:
We will be keeping you informed of what’s new and what’s happening with National Youth Week 2008, which will be celebrated around Australia from 5-13 April 2008.
The theme for National Youth Week 2008 is Shout.Share.Live.Unite, so share your creativity, get onboard and most importantly - have fun.
The National Youth Week 2008 website – www.youthweek.com - is online and ready to go!
How cool is this year’s design? It was selected from a design competition held earlier this year, which was open to all young people aged 12-25, to discover a suitable fresh design look for NYW 2008. Emily Harris from Donvale, Victoria created the winning design which now features as the new look for National Youth Week 2008. In addition to the website, the design has been applied to the NYW print and promotional products such as the NYW posters, business cards, t-shirts, foam frisbees and reusable bags.
The website is your info hub on NYW 2008. Help celebrate youth in your community and check out the ideas on how you can get involved, including:
In the coming months we’ll also be adding celebrity chats and a ‘What’s On’ guide of events in your area. So make sure you visit regularly for more information.
NYW is organised by young people for young people. The slogan for National Youth Week 2008, Shout.Share.Live.Unite, was chosen by the Young Members in consultation with young people from around Australia. We want everyone between the ages of 12 and 25 to be active, participate, get involved, and celebrate what it means to be a young Australian.
We would like to introduce the 2008 Young Members who play a vital role in the success of NYW:
| Simone Mooketsi | ACT |
| Rebecca Fowles | NSW |
| Amy Robinson | NT |
| Brad Fuller | QLD |
| Lisa Hammond | SA |
| Shani Matthews | TAS |
| Lucas Ryan | VIC |
| Kate-Anna Williams | WA |
Two Young Members were also selected to represent the Australian Government:
| Ogy Simic | Australian Government Representative |
| Michael Galluzzo | Australian Government Representative |
You can check out the profiles of all the Young Members.
The National Talent Competitions are your chance to show Australia your creative flair!
If you’re aged between 12 and 25, now’s the time to get involved. The RockIT, WriteIT, ShootIT, DesignIT and SnapIT competitions aim to unearth some of Australia’s youngest and most dynamic musicians, writers, filmmakers, designers and photographers.
The National Talent Competitions open on 30 January 2008 and are a chance to win some awesome prizes!
In 2008 each category will award an Industry winner and a Peoples Choice winner. For some inspiration, you might want to check out the winning entries from NYW 2007.
